DRC 2021 Speaker Bio-Amanda Horton
Throughout her life, when Ms. Horton was seeking to find answers or solve problems, she always knew she could turn to the Library for information and resources. Similarly, the public depends on the courthouse when they are seeking help, a sense of equity, or to access justice. Ideally, the Law Library combines this availability of reliable resources and the credibility of the justice system to anyone who is seeking answers. By providing resources to all, and through community collaborations and partnerships, Ms. Horton hopes to help alleviate some of the barriers the public face while trying to access our courts. Ms. Horton is the current director of the Polk County Law Library, a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family and County Mediator, and is licensed to practice law in Florida. This year, Ms. Horton was appointed to serve as a member on the Florida Supreme Court Commission on Access to Civil Justice where she hopes to help in finding solutions to assist in meaningful access to court for all. Ms. Horton can be reached at ahorton@jud10.flcourts.org.
